The role involves acting as a bridge between artists and programmers to ensure visually pleasing content that functions on target platforms, overcoming technical challenges in art and feature creation.
Leadership
- Lead a team, fostering an engaging environment to achieve optimal project results and support personal growth.
Maintain Artistic Direction and Quality
- Finalize materials for characters, environment assets, and effects; support existing material systems.
- Create content mock-ups in external programs, tweak shader code, and experiment with features.
- Refine assets through modeling and texturing skills.
- Enhance shader, texture, and lighting quality.
- Collaborate with the Art Director to maintain style and quality standards across the development pipeline.
Production and Deadlines
- Maintain production and software pipelines, meet deadlines.
- Develop efficient workflows for the Art team.
- Research and implement new techniques to improve asset quality.
- Explore new technologies for integration into the asset pipeline.
- Work with artists and programmers to optimize content creation and develop pipelines.
- Coordinate with the production team on tasks and schedules, ensuring work-life balance.
- Supervise bug fixing and document R&D case studies.
Feedback and Collaboration
- Provide daily feedback to improve visual quality.
- Collaborate to find solutions and solve problems creatively.
- Share knowledge and mentor peers.
- Drive R&D initiatives, explore new techniques, and improve pipelines.
- Communicate effectively across departments to ensure efficiency.
- Identify and resolve pipeline issues independently.
- Use diagnostic tools to assess and improve content, and develop new tools.
- Optimize art assets for performance on various platforms.
- Collaborate with programmers and artists on feature development and workflow improvements.
- Conduct staff performance reviews, recruitment, and onboarding.
Qualifications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating AAA quality work in engine (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary).
- Excellent knowledge of industry-standard software (Maya, Max, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Designer).
- Solid modeling and texturing skills.
- Expertise in Photoshop, Zbrush/Mudbox, Maya, Substance Designer.
- Knowledge of real-time rendering challenges and techniques.
- Experience with Unreal Engine, visual scripting, and best practices.
- Understanding of 3D graphics techniques, particle systems, environmental effects, lighting, and dynamics.
- Experience with game development pipelines and content creation tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and adaptive skills.
- Ability to develop art styles, techniques, and workflows with minimal guidance.
- Leadership, mentoring, and communication skills in English.
- Self-motivated and proactive attitude.
