Job summary

DWP Digital's Health Assessment Service (HAS) invites a Lead Technical Architect to shape the technical strategy and governance of digital architecture supporting benefit assessments including PIP. You will lead across cloud, on‑premises and hybrid environments, guiding multiple delivery teams and mentoring architects to deliver secure, scalable services used by millions.

Qualifications

• Designing complex technical solutions across cloud, on‑premises and hybrid environments.
• Applying architectural principles, standards, patterns and best practices to guide decisions.
• Working with delivery teams through the full lifecycle from discovery to live service.
• Turning business needs into clear technical solutions and communicating designs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Creating architecture designs using recognised modelling approaches and tools.
• Designing event‑driven solutions and data streaming patterns.
• Designing microservice and API‑led architectures for scalable, integrated services.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural direction for HAS and health/disability benefit platforms.
• Lead technical leadership across multiple delivery teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Guide cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid platform choices and ensure security and resilience.
• Mentor architects and promote best practices across the organisation.
• Oversee design of cohesive, scalable, and maintainable digital services.
