Our Catch22 College is the collective name for 8 sites across the country delivering academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 16+ who are not suited to mainstream college settings. Job Description

As Lead Teacher, you will provide effective leadership and management at a specific site for a College for 14-19-year-olds, ensuring a safe and secure educational environment for students with complex needs and behaviours.

You will manage the educational environment, supporting and motivating students with complex needs while delivering a high-quality, aspirational curriculum.

Main Duties & Accountabilities

Teaching and learning:

  • Teaching GCSEs in Maths and/or English
  • Building effective relationships with students and families/carers; embedding trust and support within the education process
  • Managing and monitoring the timetable to ensure effective deployment of teachers and support staff, promoting learner success
  • Overseeing and developing your subject area
  • Planning and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation standards, complying with guidance from DfE and regulatory bodies

Leadership and management:

  • Managing and analyzing performance data; reporting to Centre Manager and taking actions to address underperformance
  • Leading initiatives to improve teaching and learning quality, following College observation procedures
  • Managing contribution review processes, setting targets, and managing staff performance effectively and promptly
  • Supporting staff training and development to ensure outstanding teaching and learning

Qualifications

  • A recognised QTS qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Experience working with young people with complex needs and behaviours
  • Line management experience, including setting KPIs and conducting supervisions
  • Extensive knowledge of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies, including personalized learning approaches

Additional Information

Contract: Full-Time Permanent

Hours per week: 37

Salary: £31,980 - £38,000

Specific Requirements

  • The post holder must have a driving licence and be able to drive
