Lead Teacher of English responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing, and regularly updating a comprehensive English curriculum that aligns with national standards and caters to the diverse needs of students.
  • Ensuring high-quality teaching practices within the English department by mentoring staff, promoting innovative teaching methods, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Developing effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
  • Overseeing the allocation and maintenance of teaching resources.
  • Identifying training needs and facilitating professional development opportunities.
  • Engaging with parents and the wider community to promote the English curriculum

Lead Teacher of English Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related field, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven track record of successful teaching experience in English, with evidence of leadership roles or responsibilities within a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the English curriculum across key stages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to continuous professional learning and development.
  • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
