Job summary

Cromer Academy is seeking a passionate Teacher (Inclusion Base) to lead the specialist Inclusion Base, supporting students with additional educational needs within a mainstream secondary setting.

You will deliver an ambitious curriculum, review personalised learning plans and oversee a team of support staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and safeguarding while promoting inclusion across the Academy.

Qualifications

• An appropriate degree and other qualifications required for the award of QTS.
• Qualified Teacher Status (trainees should be on track to achieve QTS before taking up the post).
• Experience of delivering high-quality teaching within a secondary school.
• Experience of successfully supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), Equalities Act (2010) and safeguarding requirements.
• Strong teaching, learning and assessment strategies.
• Experience of monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with pupils, parents, colleagues and external professionals.
• Commitment to inclusive education and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Inclusion Base, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and specialist SEND provision.
• Deliver a broad and ambitious curriculum, adapting teaching to meet individual needs and statutory EHCP requirements where applicable.
• Develop and review personalised learning plans with pupils, parents and carers.
• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate interventions to maximise outcomes.
• Collaborate with mainstream colleagues to promote inclusive practice.
• Lead and support teaching assistants and staff in the Inclusion Base.
• Build partnerships with parents, carers, external agencies and specialist professionals.
• Support transitions into, within and beyond the Inclusion Base.
• Maintain safeguarding, behaviour, attendance and pupil wellbeing standards.
• Contribute to the wider life of the Academy and its professional development.
