Job summary

Remedy Education in Romford is seeking a dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher to join a welcoming SEN school for a full-time, long-term role starting September 2026. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to a small class of secondary students with diverse needs, ensuring progress and safeguarding.

The ideal candidate holds QTS, has experience with SEN and multiple needs (ASC, ADHD, MLD, Speech and Language, SEMH), and collaborates with Teaching Assistants and the SENCO to raise attainment

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEN setting.
  • Proven ability to differentiate and deliver engaging lessons for diverse needs.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management using positive approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons for a full-time secondary SEN class.
  • Deliver differentiated, engaging lessons across the secondary curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual SEN needs and collaborate with Teaching Assistants and the SENCO.
  • Monitor student progress with personalised targets and provide feedback to parents and colleagues.
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence and achievement.

Job description

A welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Romford is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to continue into the new academic year from September 2026.

The successful candidate will teach a small class of secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that support each student's individual learning journey. The school is looking for a passionate teacher who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed in a supportive and structured learning environment.

The Role
  • Full-time Secondary SEN Teacher position.
  • Immediate start available.
  • Long-term opportunity with continuity into September 2026.
  • Full planning, preparation and assessment responsibilities.
  • Deliver engaging, creative and differentiated lessons across the secondary curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of SEN.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Monitor student progress through personalised learning targets and provide regular feedback to parents and colleagues.
  • Create a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence and achievement.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience teaching secondary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEN setting.
  • Has a good understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management using positive and restorative approaches.
  • Is patient, resilient and committed to supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contributes positively to the wider school community.
