Job Title: Lead Teacher in Science

The Governors of St Patrick’s RC High School are seeking an excellent Lead Teacher in Science to demonstrate strong leadership of achievement across the department.

Main Purpose

The Lead Teacher will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring high-quality assessments are in place across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  2. Supporting the Head of Department in analysing assessment data to identify and respond to underperformance, misconceptions, and gaps in learning.
  3. Supporting the Head of Department in ensuring all pupils make excellent progress in Science.
  4. Supporting the Head of Department in maintaining strong attainment in Science.
  5. Overseeing the department’s approaches to extracurricular learning and support, including home learning, revision, intervention, and study skills.
  6. Implementing the department’s rewards strategy to enhance pupil engagement and motivation.
  7. Ensuring pupils are aware of post-16 education and employment opportunities related to Science to raise aspirations.
