Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence and Security sector, is seeking a dedicated Lead Systems Engineer to join their team.

Strong systems engineering experience including experience of design approvals.

This permanent position plays a pivotal role in overseeing engineering deliverables to ensure projects meet all design, safety, and regulatory standards within the defence industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensuring safety and structural standards throughout project delivery.
  2. Conducting test and verification activities.
  3. Supporting the recruitment and mobilisation of the Project Engineering team.
  4. Producing and maintaining the WTB Design and Engineering Management Plan.
  5. Developing and implementing project-specific design and engineering processes.
  6. Setting and managing the system of systems approach required for project delivery.
  7. Ensuring design and engineering tasks meet timelines, budgets, and applicable standards.
  8. Managing sub-contractor designs and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  9. Developing and executing Trials, Verification, and Validation Plans.
  10. Collaborating with other departments to identify and resolve technical issues.
  11. Promoting a mission zero safety culture within the delivery team and supply chain.
Job Requirements:
  1. Experience in Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering.
  2. BSc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  3. Active certification in an engineering professional organisation.
  4. Professional Engineering Licensure.
  5. Advanced understanding of engineering principles and procedures.
  6. Knowledge and experience of System Engineering principles and practices.
  7. Proficiency in design software packages.
  8. Experience working with Military Organisations and associated procurement establishments.
  9. Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Management Systems and ISO 45001:2018.
  10. Exceptional organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  11. Security clearance or ability to achieve it.
  12. Understanding of CE marking of equipment systems.
  13. Willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas, primarily within Europe.
