Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Lead Sports Coach (Swimming) to develop competitive swimmers across the city, delivering sessions as part of the Swim Training Scheme. You will lead a team of coaches, build lifelong athletes, and foster strong relationships with swimmers of all ages.

You will work flexible hours, undergo a DBS check, and support programme development and talent identification within Active Leeds. The role is based across city venues in Leeds.

Qualifications

• Effective communication with children and adults.
• Able to explain and demonstrate sport techniques using equipment.
• Hold Level 2 or higher NGB qualification or equivalent.
• Willing to work unsociable hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
• DBS check will be carried out on preferred candidates.

Responsibilities

• Lead a structured programme for athletes within the training scheme.
• Coach progressive practices to develop world-class technical skills.
• Prepare athletes for progression through the training scheme.
• Provide a fun, safe and inclusive sport/physical activity programme for all ages.
• Maintain a positive image of Leeds City Council and Active Leeds to customers.
• Attend events and support and mentor other coaches as required.
• Oversee and mentor other coaches within the programme.
• Support talent identification and programme development when required.
