The Lead Electronic Hardware Engineer is the engineering design authority for assigned aviation products. This leadership development role is within the sustaining engineering team and has technical responsibility for aerospace electronics and primary and secondary power distribution products as they are introduced into production and throughout their lifecycle.
The key responsibilities include:
- Design authority and ownership of all technical issues, including through-life design support activities, product improvement, lessons learned, and small project management.
- Providing post-design support, establishing root cause analysis, and implementing process improvements.
- Managing obsolescence issues, including redesign, risk analysis, cost management, last-time-buy, documentation, configuration, and customer approval.
- Ensuring adherence to CCDs.
- Managing and approving corrective actions and non-conformances.
- Liaising between customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Managing certification, re-qualification, and re-verification activities.
- Communicating progress to all levels of the business.
- Developing and implementing continual improvement practices and lessons learned.
- Supporting customer returns with root cause analysis.
- Supporting Supply Chain design engineers.
- Conducting cost analysis and collaborating on customer returns, with ideas for improvement.
- Tracking obsolescence and managing updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge in electronic systems engineering, analogue/digital electronics, or mechanical design.
- Knowledge of product design lifecycle, qualification, and verification methods.
- Experience in engineering management or leadership roles with people management responsibilities.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
