Job summary
Arcadis in the UK is seeking an Associate Technical Director to lead the firm's hydraulic engineering surge, CFD and advanced modelling across water and wastewater infrastructure. You will be the technical conscience for the Water business, setting standards, reviewing complex studies, and mentoring a team of specialist engineers.

Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of progressive hydraulic engineering experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with relevant professional body membership.
- Demonstrated technical authority in transient hydraulic modelling and surge analysis.
- CFD modelling capability using ANSYS Fluent or OpenFOAM.
- Experience delivering governance, QA standards, and design guidance.
- Experience leading and mentoring specialist engineering teams.
- Familiarity with AMP regulatory framework and client procurement.
Responsibilities
- Act as Arcadis's technical authority for surge, transient hydraulics and CFD across programs.
- Direct and oversee advanced transient and CFD studies.
- Develop and embed technical standards, model assurance frameworks and QA protocols.
- Apply and champion modelling platforms including HAMMER, Wanda, VariSim, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM and HADES.
- Drive data‑driven approaches, AI/ML and digital twin concepts in hydraulic modelling.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to improve whole‑system outcomes across programmes.
