We are now seeking a Lead Structures & Systems Engineer to join us in Farnborough, UK.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversees all structural maintenance, mechanical repair, and modification required during base maintenance activities.
- Leads and mentors the sheet metal team, and directs any allocated staff (permanent and contract).
- Liaises with OEMs to agree on technical solutions, mechanical part queries, and submission of technical support requests (e.g., SRPSA’s, TV).
- Coordinates with third-party contract companies including Part 21 and working groups in conjunction with aircraft input.
- Acts as a focal point for technical support for allocated aircraft, including repairs, modifications, queries, tooling, and specialist information.
- Controls and monitors in-house fabrication activities.
- Assists with technical aspects of quotations as required.
- Participates in the Pre-Input process and organizes meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Participates in daily status meetings with the Customer Support Manager, Aircraft Manager, and Planning Team.
- Creates project plans for maintenance inputs, identifying key sequences, milestones, and critical tasks.
- Updates project timelines to reflect progress and forecasts.
- Identifies and pre-orders all maintenance data, spares, and tooling requirements.
- Updates man-hour targets based on performance and working practices.
- Ensures complex tasks have staged Job-Cards.
- Reviews systems and procedures to improve aircraft downtime.
- Occasional out-of-hours support may be required.
- Performs any other tasks as directed by management.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- At least 3 years of proven aircraft SMW experience liaising with OEMs/Part 21, finalizing repairs, and working with Bombardier products.
- Deep understanding of engineering drawings/data and their application.
- Experience in planning and pre-engineering.
- Fluent in technical English (reading and writing).
- Full UK driving license.
- Right to work in the UK without restrictions.
- Willingness to travel and flexible working hours.
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
- Good knowledge of base maintenance operations.
- Current EWIS and FTS certifications are desirable.
