Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a clinical lead Speech and Language Therapist to drive service development across acute medicine and surgery. You will lead the SLT service, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and push for high-quality care across inpatient and outpatient pathways including FEES and videofluoroscopy.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration
• RCSLT registration
• Graduate or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Pathology
• Postgraduate courses in relevant clinical area of Speech and Language Therapy
• Evidence of CPD in relevant areas working towards master's level
• Masters qualification or modules (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide operational management of the Speech & Language therapy service to acute medicine and surgery.
• Lead service developments and support staff working.
• Assess, diagnose and independently manage complex dysphagia and disorders of communication respectively.
• Represent speech and language therapy in multidisciplinary team settings and contribute highly specialist expertise for management of patients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Collaborate with MDTs and contribute to training, education and quality improvement projects as appropriate.
• Demonstrate skills in motivating patients to engage in therapeutic process.
• Use excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with a flexible approach to work practice.
• Participate in instrumental assessment using videofluoroscopy and FEES.
• Contribute to trust level service developments impacting care delivered to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties.
• Maintain clinical professional development and stay up to date with research in this area.
