Job Description:

Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently looking for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to work in a specialist school with children and young people aged 4–19 years in Calne, on acres of beautiful grounds. The role involves developing communication skills of pupils with autism, social communication needs, and developmental delays/disorders.

About the role: As a Lead Speech & Language Therapist, you will work in two specialist secondary schools to develop pupils' core communication and interaction skills and help manage their physical and sensory needs, positively impacting their social, emotional, and mental health, and enabling engagement across the curriculum.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the Academy Speech and Language Strategy
  • Manage a specialist caseload using advanced clinical skills and innovative practices
  • Provide expert advice to the Education, Care, and Therapy Teams, interpreting reports for admissions, tribunals, reviews, and banding
  • Develop and deliver training courses, working with parents, carers, and children towards shared goals and outcomes

Qualifications and experience:

  • HCPC & RCSLT registration
  • Ability to deliver accredited Speech and Language/Communication courses (e.g., ELKLAN)
  • Experience in management and strategy, knowledge of total communication methods like Makaton and visuals
  • Understanding of safeguarding requirements and promoting children's welfare
