Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) are seeking a dynamic and motivated Lead Sonographer for general Ultrasound at Lewisham Hospital. This role offers an opportunity to work in a busy clinical environment and to be part of an expanding ultrasound service.
The service operates across University Hospital Lewisham (UHL), Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), and the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), providing a range of diagnostic studies. The post holder will manage the General Ultrasound Department at Lewisham Hospital.
This position is suitable for an experienced Sonographer interested in managing an ultrasound service, teaching, and clinical governance. It offers a chance to lead a team and deliver excellent patient care.
The Lead Sonographer will oversee the daily operations and clinical leadership of the ultrasound service, including workforce management, maintaining standards, service delivery optimization, and ensuring resilience amid increasing demand.
Responsibilities include acting as the primary contact for ultrasound at Lewisham, managing clinical practice, staff development, rota management, and service planning. The role also involves cross-cover for obstetric sonography during leave periods.
The post requires collaboration with radiologists, radiographic assistants, clerical teams, outpatient services, A&E, and inpatient units to ensure efficient service delivery.
