Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a lead Physiotherapist based at University Hospital Hairmyres to oversee a designated clinical area and supervise junior staff. The role involves patient assessment, diagnosis and discharge planning, with emphasis on governance and research.

You will be professionally accountable for care, with expertise in complex cases and adherence to clinical guidelines. The working pattern includes one weekend day per month and a supportive NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration.
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
• Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.

Responsibilities

• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including direct and indirect patient care.
• To assess capacity gain valid consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.
• Act independently to assess, analyse clinical and non-clinical information and provide highly specialist and comprehensive clinical diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention. This includes patients with complex presentations
• Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential – including decision making regarding discharge from care
