Job description

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks Limited (NIE Networks), part of the ESB Group, owns and operates the electricity transmission and distribution network in Northern Ireland. We are responsible for the planning, development, construction, and maintenance of the network, and we also provide electricity market registration and data services across the region.

IT Services are procured, delivered and supported from within the Chief Information Office (CIO). Within the CIO Directorate, NIE Networks has an in-house Solution Engineering team that works closely with Solution Architecture, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to build, support, and evolve digital solutions. These solutions are designed to help our customers complete their tasks efficiently and effectively.

As part of our ongoing digital transformation and the modernisation of our practices and tool sets, we are seeking to recruit three Lead Solution Engineers. These individuals will play a key role in delivering our Cloud Smart Strategy, driving the adoption of DevSecOps practices, and leading small cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

Reporting to the Solution Engineering Manager, the Lead Solution Engineers will be responsible for leading a small, cross-functional team focused on delivering continuous value to our customers through iterative delivery. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities. It requires someone who can design and implement scalable, secure solutions while mentoring and guiding their team to high performance. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in DevSecOps practices and capable of championing engineering excellence both within their team and across the wider Solution Engineering community
