Job summary

Raymarine is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Fareham to blend hands-on coding with people leadership across several scrum teams. You will line-manage up to eight engineers, guide architectural decisions, and maintain production-quality software while championing modern AI-augmented development workflows.

You will balance technical delivery with growth, wellbeing and performance reviews, reporting to senior management. The role is hybrid with four days in our Fareham office.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related STEM field.
• Experience leading software teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Ability to design and review production-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and maintain high-quality software as a hands-on contributor at senior engineer level or above.
• Promote and establish CI/CD, test automation, code quality and delivery predictability.
• Review code and designs across teams, setting and enforcing engineering standards and best practices.
• Work with Principal Engineers on architecture, technical direction and cross-team risks.
• Line-manage around 8 engineers across multiple scrum teams and disciplines.
• Hold regular one-to-ones focused on wellbeing, performance, feedback and career growth.
• Set objectives with each report and lead performance reviews.
