As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the International Consumer Bank, specifically Chase UK, you will play a pivotal role in our Developer Experience tribe. This tribe is integral to our innovative cloud-native AWS infrastructure that underpins the operations of Chase UK bank, serving over 2 million customers. Your role will involve working with platform technologies such as Kubernetes, databases, connectivity, and various SDLC and CICD tools.


You will have the opportunity to create automations to reduce manual work and improve developer experience. We seek team members with an inquisitive mindset, who thrive in collaborative environments, and have a strong interest in emerging technologies. Our team is solution-oriented, commercially savvy, and interested in fintech. We operate in tribes and squads focused on specific products and projects, with opportunities to transition within squads based on your skills and interests.


Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop tooling with a focus on security and controls to ensure compliance with technical audit regulations.
  2. Engage with stakeholders, Product Owners, and engineers to focus on control and compliance of the platform.
  3. Maintain and build cloud platforms for application developers, providing support to enforce controls in SDLC, with minimal manual intervention and maximum automation.
  4. Understand challenges faced by engineers and proactively improve solutions.
  5. Participate in the on-call rotation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification in back-end software engineering, with advanced experience.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
  • Recent experience with JVM languages (Java/Kotlin/Groovy) and frameworks like Spring, Hibernate.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web technologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications in AWS.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and SDLC best practices.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with tools for managing microservices, including tracing, monitoring, and metrics gathering.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Knowledge of software engineering security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Additional certifications or training in cloud application development and maintenance.
  • Experience developing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Experience with performance management.
