As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the International Consumer Bank, specifically Chase UK, you will play a pivotal role in our Developer Experience tribe. This tribe is integral to our innovative cloud-AWS infrastructure that underpins the operations of Chase UK bank, serving over 2 million customers. Your role will involve working with platform technologies, including Kubernetes, databases, and the SDLC and CICD space.

You will have the opportunity to create automations to minimize toil and improve the developer experience. We seek team members with an inquisitive mindset, who thrive in team environments, and have a strong interest in emerging technology and fintech. Our team operates in tribes and squads focusing on specific products and projects, with opportunities to transition among squads based on skills and interests.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop tooling with a focus on security and controls to ensure banking operations remain compliant with technical audit regulations.
  • Engage with stakeholders, Product Owners, and Engineers on control and compliance aspects of the platform.
  • Maintain and build a cloud platform for application developers, supporting control enforcement in SDLC with automation.
  • Identify and improve solutions based on engineer feedback.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Formal training or certification in back-end software engineering with advanced experience.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
  • Recent experience with JVM languages (Java/Kotlin/Groovy) and frameworks like Spring, Hibernate.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web technologies.
  • Experience developing in AWS cloud environment.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and SDLC best practices.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with tools for managing microservices, tracing, monitoring, and metrics gathering.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional qualifications:
  • Knowledge of software security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with performance management.
