Job summary

Sanderson Recruitment Plc seeks an experienced Lead Software Developer for a high-profile programme delivering scalable, cloud-based solutions in a secure environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with active design and development responsibilities.

Within an agile delivery team, you will build and enhance RESTful APIs and cloud-native services, mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practices across AWS/Azure and modern web technologies.

Lead Software Developer
£525/day Inside IR35 | Remote | Active SC Clearance Required
Contract until 31st March 2027 + likely extension

We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Developer to join a high-profile programme delivering scalable, cloud-based solutions within a secure environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys driving technical direction while remaining actively involved in design and development.

Working within an agile delivery team, you'll play a key role in building and enhancing modern applications, APIs, and cloud-native services, whilst mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust, scalable software solutions
• Drive technical decision-making and provide guidance to development teams
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
• Build and support cloud-native applications hosted in AWS and Azure
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, and stakeholders across the delivery life cycle
• Champion code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices
• Support deployment, containerisation, and platform optimisation activities

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js
• API development using REST and OpenAPI
• Web application development using HAPI
• Database expertise across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Unit testing with Jest and Lab
• Source control using Git
• Cloud platform experience in AWS and/or Azure
• Containerisation technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS
• CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions
• Experience using Jira and Azure DevOps for work management and delivery tracking
