Job Description

Nutmeg is a J.P. As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Nutmeg, you will be part of a team dedicated to building a top-in-market suite of mobile and web apps to enhance investment experiences for our clients. Our team is focused on transforming innovative ideas into impactful solutions, working in collaborative squads and tribes centered around specific products and projects.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Product team to understand user needs and develop features using Java/Spring Boot, Kotlin, DynamoDB, Aurora/MySQL, and AWS within an Agile SDLC framework.
2. Design and evolve system architecture, utilizing ADRs, microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka, and event-driven design.
3. Take ownership of tasks from estimation through to deployment and post-production support.
4. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects, ensuring high-quality code through testing and code reviews.
5. Participate in release processes, aiming for frequent deployments.
6. Share knowledge through team sessions and contribute to technical initiatives to improve the codebase and tools.
7. Focus on solving core problems rather than just symptoms.

Requirements

1. Proficiency in English; work will be conducted with the London team.
2. Product-oriented mindset with a history of delivering high-quality software that meets business and user needs.
3. Experience with JVM languages (Java/Scala/Kotlin) and Spring Boot.
4. Ability to design new systems and evolve existing architectures, including serverless and cloud-managed solutions.
5. Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka.
6. Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, REST APIs, and Git flow.
7. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
8. Curiosity about new methods and proactive in sharing ideas.

Preferred Skills

1. Experience with DynamoDB and/or Aurora.
2. Background in FinTech sector.
3. Experience developing multi-country products with localizations and currencies.
4. Portfolio of work on GitHub, Stack Overflow, or similar platforms.
