As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Investment Bank, you will be a key member of an agile team designing and delivering innovative market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable environment. Your responsibilities include developing critical technology solutions across various business functions to support the firm’s objectives.

The team is transforming the equity financing platform, working on projects involving Kafka, AMPS, real-time trading platforms in KDB, data science tools in Python, and UIs in React. This fast-paced, global team offers a supportive environment for skill development under industry-experienced mentors.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve complex problems.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms synchronized with relevant systems.
  • Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met.
  • Analyze large, diverse data sets to develop visualizations and reports for continuous software improvement.
  • Identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using insights to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Participate in software engineering communities and explore emerging technologies.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Collaborate with traders, quantitative researchers, and product managers to automate trading processes and tackle technical challenges.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in system design and proficient experience in Java.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large corporate environments, including database querying languages.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes, including cloud, AI, and mobile technologies.
  • Understanding of system architecture from front to back.
  • Awareness of industry technology trends and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in large teams to achieve goals.
  • Enthusiasm for fostering an innovative culture.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficiency in Java or Web UI technologies like React.
  • Understanding of Prime business, especially Equity Finance, including Locates, Availability, and Positions Management.
  • Experience with Cloud deployment and development.
  • Knowledge of real-time processing and delivery systems, such as Kafka and AMPS.
