Job summary

Northrop Grumman UK in Cheltenham is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain critical infrastructure powering our services. You will work across diverse, mission-focused projects to build elegant, scalable solutions with real-world impact.

You’ll provide strong technical and delivery leadership, mentoring junior developers and guiding the team through requirements, design, testing and deployment in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a software developer with backend Java focus (Spring Boot, Maven).
• Experience in frontend development (React, npm).
• Proven ability to design, develop and deploy scalable backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the team’s deliverables and define the path forward with the Scrum Master.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Collaborate with product teams, frontend engineers and QA to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior developers to grow team capability.
