Role: Lead Software Engineer

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 4 backend engineers, with potential to expand
  • Identify skill gaps and facilitate team growth
  • Drive greenfield projects, setting standards for design, implementation, and delivery
  • Develop, review, and debug secure, high-quality production code
  • Enforce best practices in coding, testing, and code reviews
  • Influence architecture, design patterns, and standards at an organizational level
  • Collaborate with product managers to align technical work with business objectives
  • Support operational aspects of production systems in a 'you-build-it, you-run-it' culture
  • Lead communities of practice to promote new technologies
  • Refine development and deployment processes
  • Contribute to a team culture of equity, respect, and collaboration
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven leadership and mentorship abilities within engineering teams
  • Experience designing microservices architectures emphasizing scalability and reliability
  • Proficiency in Java or Kotlin, and Spring Boot, with experience in distributed systems
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Deep understanding of SDLC practices, including CI/CD, TDD, security, and Agile methodologies
  • Cloud deployment experience, particularly with Kubernetes on providers like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Additional Skills and Experience
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka
  • Familiarity with workflow engines like Temporal.io
  • Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes best practices
  • Experience with distributed databases such as CockroachDB
