Job summary

Rullion is seeking a Control Systems Lead Software Engineer in the UK with hybrid working options. You will lead the energy software team to design, develop and implement DCS/PLC/SCADA control systems using PCS7/Neo and related technologies.

You will guide the project lifecycle, ensure QA adherence and mentor junior engineers. The role supports flexible Glasgow or Stone-based working arrangements and offers impactful, large-scale system work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience using Siemens PCS7/Neo Automation Stations and OS including Advanced Process Library (APL), Control Module Types (CMT) and SFC.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 as a second controller technology.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with at least one of the following SCADA packages: FactoryTalk View SE, ArchestrA System Platform or equivalents.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience producing design/specs and writing IEC 61131 code (Ladder, FBD, SFC, ST).
• Experience performing I/F tests and QA procedures; ability to coach others and work to QA processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the software design, development and implementation for DCS/PLC/SCADA control systems.
• Guide the team through the full project lifecycle with strong technical leadership.
• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers to share knowledge and best practices.

Hours of work: Up to 40 hours per week

Role information:

• We are looking for enthusiastic & experienced engineers to join our existing Energy team to perform all aspects software design, development and implementation for DCS or PLC/SCADA based control systems
• You will lead the team through all aspects of a project lifecycle. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical leadership and proven experience with PCS7/Neo and at least one other technology.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience using Siemens PCS7/Neo Automation Stations and OS including:
  • Advanced Process Library (APL)
  • Control Module Types (CMT)
  • Sequential Function Charts (SFC)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience using at least one of the following additional controller technologies:
  • Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix utilising Studio 5000
• Minimum 5 years’ experience using at least one of the following additional SCADA applications:
  • Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
  • ArchestrA System Platford
  • Other equivalent SCADA package
• Minimum 5 years’ experience of the following:
  • Producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications and Test Specifications
  • Writing software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
  • Performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Technical Checking & Reviewing of Engineering produced by others.
  • Demonstrated ability to Support the development of less experienced team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle working to QA procedures
