Overview

Working with a leading business based in Birmingham in their search for a Lead Java Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid working role and you are required to be on site 3 days a week with 2 from home. Paying up to £90,000 + benefits.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team building solutions for our public sector client. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of leading complex engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, quality assurance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering initiatives for public sector digital services from concept through delivery.
• Collaborate within self-empowered, multi-disciplinary teams to apply best practices and modern tooling.
• Ensure quality and reliability of solutions across cloud platforms and on-premise infrastructure.
• Drive technical decisions, architecture alignment, and delivery timelines in an Agile environment.
• Foster effective communication with stakeholders and across engineering disciplines.

Required Competencies

• Advanced Technical Skills: Strong understanding of the QA process, knowledge in defining, implementing test designs and broad experience across test levels, with a deep understanding of engineering principles and best practice. Flexibility and adaptability are expected to acquire new skills to match industry demands and customer expectations.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively. High levels of emotional intelligence to connect with and develop our engineering talent pool.
