Job description

This is a Lead Social Worker role at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility that provides care for men and women with complex mental health requirements. The successful candidate will manage and support a caseload of service users, lead on safeguarding, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the patients.

Main duties of the job

As a Lead Social Worker, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a caseload of service users with mental health conditions. This will involve conducting assessments, writing CPA reports, attending Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings, as well as supervising junior staff members. You will also be the deputy manager of the team, leading and promoting adult safeguarding and empowering recovery to encourage service users to engage in their care plans and achieve their goals. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and have access to various training and development opportunities.

Job responsibilities

Join the team at Gateway Recovery Centre in Widnes and help people in their recovery journey. You will manage and support a caseload of up to 20 service users with mental health conditions, conduct assessments, prepare CPA reports, and support Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings. As a deputy manager, you will lead and promote adult safeguarding and empower recovery, working closely with a multidisciplinary team. You will have access to regional support and various training and online courses for your career development.

  • Support the social work team in safeguarding and quality assurance meetings.
  • Deliver safeguarding induction and update training across the hospital.
  • Lead on mental capacity issues and best interest decisions.
  • Provide supervision and appraisal to social workers.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, CMHT, and Probation.
  • Support carers and families of detained patients.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in a similar environment.
