Lead Social Care Coordinator

35 hours per week

Temporary up to 31 December 2026

£39,941 - £44,120 / £21.89 - £24.18 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the office of the Care at Home team based in Kirkwall. As the Lead Social Care Co-ordinator (LSSC) you will support the Registered Manager to manage the day to day operations of services provided by the Care at Home and Mobile Community Responder Services, providing clear leadership and ensuring that the services are delivered effectively and efficiently and that, in doing so, an ethos of enablement and re-ablement is promoted.

The post holder will undertake responsibility for supervision and support of staff to ensure that, in the performance of their duties, the highest standards of professional practice and conduct are achieved.

This role will help ensure that the service provides good quality care that meets regulatory standards, which are achieved and maintained to a high standard, supports individuals who use the service(s) to achieve their outcomes and reach their full potential.

The Lead Social Care Co-ordinator manages the provision and delivery of services to individuals and their family carers to ensure that assessed outcomes are achieved and individual needs are met, monitoring and reviewing packages of care, including risk assessments, to achieve this, ensuring that service users are adequately consulted on all appropriate issues.

The minimum knowledge required for this role can be evidenced by either, holding an SVQ4 Social Services and Health Care (SCQF9), Registered Professional Nursing, Allied Health Professional or Social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, Degree SW or equivalent) and being willing to achieve a Management qualification to meet SSSC registration criteria for Manager of a Care at Home Service within 3 years of appointment, or having a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience and being willing to achieve the two qualifications required to meet SSSC registration criteria for Manager of a Care at Home Service within 3 years of appointment.

You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
