Job summary

JHR Recruitment is seeking a Lead Site Manager to oversee a £2m cladding and retrofit project in Plymouth city centre. The role covers mobilisation through practical completion over a 12-month duration, with autonomous site leadership supported by regular visits from a Contracts Manager.

You will manage on-site operations for occupied private apartments, coordinate subcontractors, maintain programme, ensure health and safety compliance, and maintain effective client and resident liaison.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Lead Site Manager on cladding/retrofit/refurbishment projects.
• Experience managing occupied residential buildings with strong client-facing skills.
• Comfortable running logistically challenging city-centre sites autonomously with regular oversight.
• Valid CSCS card and First Aid certification are essential.
• SMSTS is essential; scaffold inspection qualification is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must reside within easy daily commute of Plymouth; possession of a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage all on-site operations from mobilisation through to practical completion.
• Oversee cladding and retrofit works on occupied residential apartments.
• Coordinate site logistics in a constrained city-centre environment, including access and deliveries.
• Serve as the main point of contact for residents, clients and stakeholders.
• Coordinate subcontractors and trades to maintain programme and quality.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, building regulations and fire safety standards.
• Chair site and progress meetings and report updates to Contracts Manager.
