Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

Do you know your way around a spanner? Can you tell a centrifugal pump from a cup of tea at 50 yards? Are you the kind of person who sees a mechanical problem and runs towards it (probably with a wrench and allen keys in hand)?

If so, we’ve got just the job for you...

We’re on the hunt for a Lead Site Fitter to join a cracking little two-person team covering water treatment and mechanical maintenance sites across the Severn Trent region. This is a brilliant opportunity to step up into a number one role, leading jobs from the front – and doing it all from the comfort of a fully kitted-out van (sadly no fluffy dice… yet).

What’s the job then?You’ll be:

  • Travelling between sites with your trusty co-fitter, getting hands-on with pumps, pipework, rotating machinery and other water-industry marvels

  • Swapping out worn kit for shiny new (or fully refurbished) stuff

  • Sometimes removing equipment to be overhauled at the workshop

  • Dodging puddles, climbing into confined spaces, and occasionally scaling ladders – all while staying well within the lines of health & safety

  • Acting as the face of the business on site – so you’ll need to be professional, practical and (ideally) not allergic to people

What you’ll need:
  • Mechanical know-how and decent hands-on fitting experience

  • A background in site-based work (bonus points if it’s water-related)

  • The confidence to lead from the front – while still being a good team player

  • A full UK driving licence – no licence, no van, no dice

  • Some computer literacy – nothing fancy, but you’ll need to record your work

  • Confined space/working at height tickets are great, but if not, training’s on us

What’s in it for you?
  • A competitive salary based on your experience

  • 39-hour week with overtime if you fancy the extra £££

  • A pension scheme – for future you

  • Company van – shared with your team mate

  • Supportive training – if you’re keen to learn, we’re keen to teach

Sound like your kind of job? Don’t sit on it too long – get in touch and we’ll talk you through the details.

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering company that’s big on quality, safety, and doing the job right first time. And no, they won’t make you wear a suit.
