Job summary

Fusion People is seeking a Lead Design Engineer (Signalling) for a Birmingham-based contract. You will undertake design production and checking of signalling detail design per standards and specifications, coordinating with stakeholders.

Requirements include an Engineering degree or equivalent, IRSE Signalling Principles Designer and Signalling Design Verifier licences, and strong communication skills. The role focuses on preparing and checking design plans and working details for railway

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• IRSE Signalling Principles Designer Licence and Signalling Design Verifier Licence required.
• Experience in design and implementation of Signalling Systems Engineering especially preparing and checking design plans and working details.
• Competent in Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs and Checking.
• SSI data & control tables design/checking experience desirable.
• WTS Westlock trackside system knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake design production/checking of signalling detail design per standards and design specs.
• Perform complex railway signal design tasks to relevant standards and industry codes.
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Provide guidance to junior design staff for Signalling Design activities.
• Assist in risk assessment of planned and completed designs.

Lead Design Engineer (Signalling)

Rail Client

Contract duration – initially until 26/02/2027 with potential extensions

Location – Birmingham

IR35 – outside

Rate – £500 – £550 per day

Requirements:

• Engineering Degree/HND/HNC qualification
• IRSE Signalling Principles Designer and Signalling Design Verifier Licence
• Strong and effective communication and presentation skills
• Experience in all aspects of design and implementation of Signalling Systems Engineering with focus on preparation and checking of design plans and working details
• Competent in Scheme Plans, LAP, Specifications, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs and Checking.
• SSI (Westlock) data & Control tables Design/Checking experience will be desirable
• WTS- Westlock trackside system technology knowledge will be advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Undertake design production/checking of the signalling detail design as per relevant standards and Signalling Design Specifications
