The Role
We are seeking a Lead Service Technician to join our operations team in Southampton. This role combines hands-on servicing of marine safety equipment with leadership responsibilities for a small team of technicians. You will ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Technical Work

Open, inspect, test, weigh, repack, and label life-saving equipment, including liferafts and first aid kits.

Carry out maintenance, installations, and repairs of marine safety equipment in accordance with quality and safety procedures.

Diagnose faults, undertake emergency repairs, and perform preventative maintenance inspections.

Produce detailed inspection and test reports for administrative processing.

Assist with testing and commissioning of new or complex systems within your competence level.

Follow stores requisition procedures to maintain accurate stock levels and records.

Allocate daily work and support the Service Operations Manager with site opening/closing and safety checks.

Provide on-the-job coaching, skills development, and assessments for team members.

Support monthly scheduling to ensure effective resource planning.

About You Essential Criteria

Proven hands-on experience in servicing or maintaining equipment, ideally within liferaft operations or related safety systems.

Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior technician or team lead role.

Strong attention to detail and effective written/verbal communication skills.

Full, valid drivers licence and flexibility to travel when required.

Willingness to obtain rope access certification (if not already certified).

Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting operational targets.
