We are looking for a Lead Service Designer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.
Digital Channels is driving and enabling the modernization of DWP's customer contact, helping our 20 million customers to communicate with our department via the right and best channel.
We run some of the UK's largest 'Live Services' across all mediums. It is a hugely impactful role, which touches nearly every point of customer contact we have.

Design with Purpose
Our Service Designers put user needs at the heart of everything they do.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and other Service Designers to mature and adapt our services, ensuring we can deliver the best outcome for the customers and colleagues that use them.
You will work with stakeholders across different areas to understand what they need and to articulate the vision and lead the design strategy in a way that makes sense.
With a data and insight-led approach, you will be able to identify pain points within our services and define design solutions and improvements to fulfill user needs and drive improved business outcomes, also influencing stakeholder buy-in.
We have a thriving Design community in DWP, dedicated to sharing expertise and continuous learning.
You're a skilled practitioner and expert, and a leader. You will shape what we mean by service design in DWP, acting as a mentor and role model for the wider Service Design team.

Location: You'll join us in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face-to-face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £77,740.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £21,000.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
