We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Senior Science Technician to join a fantastic secondary school in Greenwich. This is a full-time, long-term role, ideal for a skilled and dedicated individual with a passion for science, ready to support both students and teachers in a dynamic learning environment. Role Details

Role: Lead Senior Science Technician
Location: Greenwich
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: Long Term, Full Time
Salary: £100 - £140 per day (depending on qualification & experience)

Experience Required
  1. Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar technical support role within a school.
  2. To coordinate the assessment, monitoring and review of health and safety procedures.
  3. To manage the technical team on a daily basis, co-ordinating the workload of the team so that it is fair and equitable.
  4. Lead and advise on the assessment, monitoring and review of both health and safety procedures and information resources as dictated by CLEAPPS advice and COSHH regulations. Liaise with the Local Authority where appropriate.
  5. To ensure that the chemistry storerooms are maintained in line with CLEAPPS and COSHH regulations.
  6. Standardise the management of chemicals and apparatus across the department, ensuring appropriate risk assessments are carried out for such items (including PAT testing).
  7. Organising the safe treatment and disposal of used materials including hazardous substances, chemicals/microbiological waste/animal carcasses in accordance with established guidelines.
  8. Support the Director of Science by meeting with them on a half-termly basis to discuss health and safety across the department.
  9. Liaise with the School Business Manager and G4S in ensuring that gas, electricity and water supplies are safe and that fume cupboards are maintained properly.
  10. Carry out in-department audits and routine inspection, making recommendations to the Science Technician team.
  11. Providing technical advice and guidance to the science technician team.
  12. A valid DBS registered on the update service.
  13. 2-3 professional references covering a minimum of 2-3 years of employment history.
  14. Must be available for an immediate interview and start date.

To work in the school, you must meet the following compliance criteria:

  1. A valid DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
  2. References covering your past two years of employment or education
  3. Proof of right to work in the UK
  4. Proof of national insurance
  5. Proof of address (dated within the last three months)
  6. Relevant qualification certificates (if applicable)
