Lead Senior Controls Accountant - Milton Keynes

Pay rate: £26.44 per hour (Salary equivalent £48K)
Contract hours: 35 hours per week
Working pattern: Office-based on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus Days 1, 2, and 3 of each month (month-end activities). Core hours are typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

We've got a brilliant opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a high-performing team as a Lead Senior Controls Accountant within a major financial services business. If you're someone who can read a balance sheet like a novel, spot a reconciliation issue from a mile away, and enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative environment, this one's for you.

This role offers the chance to work closely with a specialist leasing and rental team, get hands-on with our highly modified SAP F5 system, and support essential internal control processes that underpin our entire operation.

You'll be working onsite with the team on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as Days 1-3 of each month for key month-end activities.

What You'll Be Doing

This role is all about control, clarity, and collaboration:

• Performing and overseeing daily and monthly financial control tasks within tight deadlines.
• Completing and reviewing complex balance sheet reconciliations, and proactively escalating issues or risks.
• Supporting key audit, leasing, and rental processes, with an understanding of the associated internal products.
• Providing insightful analysis and commentary on financial transactions and month-end performance.
• Playing a key role in system improvements and fault investigations, helping drive smarter financial processes.
• Acting as a go-to support for both your team and the wider business - you'll be the eyes and ears for accuracy and compliance.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who knows their debits from their credits and thrives in a fast-paced environment:

• Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Solid grasp of accounting principles and internal control systems
• Experience using SAP F5 or similar complex ERP systems
• Skilled in balance sheet reconciliation and financial data analysis
• Able to hit the ground running, onboarding includes a comprehensive 3-4 week handover period
• Comfortable providing high-level financial overviews and digging into the detail when required
• A calm, problem-solving mindset, especially during busy month-end crunch times
• Advanced Excel skills and a knack for clear, confident communication
