Job summary

Kainos is seeking a Lead Security Engineer (Consultant) to lead security engineering and testing across Kainos Platforms and Services. You will set direction on testing methodology, engagement scoping, and tooling, while developing our security capability.

You will coach a small team, collaborate with agile delivery teams, and educate customers and Kainos staff on best security practices, threat modelling, and risk reduction.

Qualifications

• Expertise in securing Web Applications and Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure).
• Experience in Defence Sector.
• Current, Active Security Clearance.
• Experience testing software and infrastructure security with tools and manual methods.
• Ability to assess software/infrastructure code from a security angle.
• Knowledge of CI/CD security and secure deployment practices.
• Familiarity with international security standards (NCSC, NIST, CIS, PCI, GDPR, OWASP ASVS, SOC2).
• Understanding of cyber attack vectors and threat modelling workshops.
• Excellent communication to convey security concepts to varied audiences.
• Experience in mentoring and developing team members.
• Good programming or scripting across Windows/Linux/MacOS.
• Stays up to date with new threats and attack types.
