Job summary

Barclay Simpson is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to join a small, high-trust security function in London. You will own security engineering projects end-to-end across a Microsoft environment, driving improvements in identity and access, Zero Trust and cloud security.

Hybrid role (2-3 days in central London) with a base salary up to £80,000 plus bonus and benefits. The right candidate will build security controls, automate processes and collaborate with IT, Engineering and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in security engineering across Microsoft environments is preferred.
• Strong understanding of identity and access management concepts.
• Ability to automate manual security processes.

Job description

Growing commerce company seeks a Lead Security Engineer to join a small, high-trust security function to take ownership of meaningful security engineering projects from end to end.

This is a broad generalist security engineering role in a Microsoft environment. You'll work across identity and access, Zero Trust, cloud security, vulnerability management, SIEM/detection and application security, with an early focus on improving SSO and access management, strengthening joiner/mover/leaver processes, reducing reliance on traditional VPN access and improving visibility across the application estate.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building and improving security controls, automating manual processes and working closely with IT, Engineering and senior stakeholders. Experience across areas such as Entra ID, AWS/GCP, SIEM, vulnerability management, Zero Trust or security automation would be particularly relevant.

A great opportunity for a strong Security Engineer ready to take broader technical ownership, or an existing Lead who still wants to remain hands‑on.

Hybrid (2-3 days in central London), up to £80,000 base + bonus + bens.
