Job summary

Select Engineering is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design seating systems from concept to production. You will generate concepts, develop BOMs, release drawings and CAD data to Tier 1 suppliers and PLM systems, and run test plans while supporting manufacturing.

You will also ensure compliance with legal and customer requirements, coordinate with suppliers, and manage revisions and tolerance calculations throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Tertiary level STEM qualification.
• 5 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Ability to create and communicate engineering schemes from either surrogate parts or new concepts.
• Ability to check and approve an engineering drawing.
• Highly competent in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Desirable).
• 5 years' experience in automotive seating (Desirable).
• Driving license (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Interpret specifications and develop design concepts.
• Develop a Bill of Materials with revision control.
• Engineer components and sub-assemblies for BoM items.
• Support customers and suppliers in component development.
• Integrate components into seat assemblies.
• Analyze the product and capture issues in an open issues list.
• Resolve root causes and provide interim containment steps.
• Ensure drawings are complete and unambiguous.
• Release components to PLM systems and suppliers.
• Perform tolerance calculations and manage revision control.
• Create prototypes and physical mock-ups.
• Ensure compliance with legal, customer and supplier requirements.
