At our site in Alconbury near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, we are looking to recruit a Lead Scientist within the Environmental Sciences team.

Please note this can be a hybrid/remote role with travel to a primary site as needed.

This operational and customer-facing role involves providing strong scientific leadership in delivering solutions to internal and external customers.

Work with Operational Leaders to ensure that Biodegradation studies are performed and reported to high scientific standards in compliance with GLP, A(SP)A, and HSE regulations, within agreed timeframes.

The job holder will be the primary interface between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory, Sales, and Marketing.

Job Responsibilities will include:
  • Maintain awareness of the competitive marketplace for Biodegradation services, including both commercial and service expectations.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of scientific developments to keep the Company’s Biodegradation services at the industry forefront.
  • Stay updated on technical, scientific, and regulatory developments related to Biodegradation services through literature review and attending expert meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to maintain and enhance the reputation of Biodegradation services.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to network with other teams, providing training and technical advice.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external customers to promote Labcorp’s Biodegradation expertise and services.
  • Support customer needs during on-site and off-site meetings, and work on developing the customer base.
  • Participate in conferences and events to enhance Labcorp’s scientific profile.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific meetings to elevate scientific standing.
  • Provide scientific judgment on study data interpretation and reporting.
  • Develop proposals for bespoke studies, leading scientific review and design, and ensuring timely and quality project delivery.
  • Ensure the highest scientific standards are provided to customers.
  • Review study data and support interpretation and communication of results.
  • Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement.
