Role Purpose:

The Lead Scientist is a key member of the laboratory team responsible for working on multiple complex projects to resolve challenging technical issues and deliver high-quality experimental work following all safety and quality procedures. They are responsible for planning and executing complex experiments and supporting junior colleagues in their projects. They will identify and implement technical and operational improvements. The Lead Scientist will work closely with customers to understand their needs, plan experiments that meet their expectations, present progress, and respond to questions.

Key Accountabilities and Duties:
  • Plan and direct the work of others competently
  • Lead and be accountable for multiple projects, ensuring safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery, including creating and updating project dashboards. Escalate risks and issues promptly (technical, resource, customer, cost).
  • Lead problem-solving, troubleshooting, and lessons learned activities
  • Coach, mentor, and train junior team members as needed
  • Model excellent communication, best practices, and professional behavior within Development Services
  • Manage customer proposals, including technical content and resource estimation
  • Review and write reports to standard for final approval by the Head of Department
Qualifications/Skills:
  • BSc in a relevant scientific or technical discipline
  • Highly proficient in Biacore - SPR, with 3 to 5 years of experience in developing and troubleshooting SPR methods
