Job summary

Labcorp in Harrogate is seeking a Lead Scientist to join our Bioanalysis (LC-MS/MS) team. You will lead scientific activities for method development, validation and sample analysis, and serve in study leadership roles for regulated studies.

You will provide scientific oversight to ensure GLP/GCP compliance, act as the primary scientific contact for clients, and mentor scientific staff while delivering high-quality data to time and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Significant experience in bioanalytical method development, validation, and regulated study conduct in a CRO.
• Experience as Study Director, Principal Investigator, or Responsible Scientist for regulated studies.
• Strong knowledge of GLP, GCP, EMA/FDA bioanalytical guidelines.
• Excellent client management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven leadership and multi-project management experience.
• Ability to manage high-volume workload with rigorous scientific quality.

Lead Scientist – LCMS

Job Responsibilities Include

• Lead scientific activities supporting method development, validation, and sample analysis projects
• Serve in key study leadership roles (e.g., Study Director, Principal Investigator, Responsible Scientist) for regulated and non-regulated studies.
• Develop, review, and approve protocols, validation plans, reports, and study data.
• Provide scientific oversight to ensure compliance with GLP, GCP, regulatory, and client requirements.
• Act as the primary scientific contact for clients, defining project requirements and managing scientific expectations.
• Identify and resolve scientific challenges, risks, and scope changes throughout the study lifecycle.
• Provide technical expertise and support assay troubleshooting and scientific investigations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop scientific staff while fostering collaboration and a culture of quality.
• Manage multiple complex projects, ensuring delivery to quality, timeline, and client expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scientific excellence and client satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Significant experience in bioanalytical method development, validation, and regulated study conduct within a Contract Research Organization (CRO) environment.
• Previous experience as a Study Director (SD), Principal Investigator (PI), and/or Responsible Scientist (RS) is required for regulated bioanalytical studies.
• Thorough understanding of GLP, GCP, and applicable global regulatory requirements governing bioanalytical studies.
• Proven ability to interpret complex scientific data, troubleshoot technical issues, and make sound scientific and regulatory decisions.
• Excellent client management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience building and maintaining successful customer relationships.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and project management experience, including oversight of scientific staff and management of multiple concurrent projects.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining scientific quality, regulatory compliance, and exceptional attention to detail.

The Lead Scientist is responsible for the management of bioanalytical (LC-MS/MS) studies/phases of studies and to ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with the Study Plan, SOPs and appropriate regulatory standards such as GLP & GCP, and guidelines (EMA and FDA Bioanalytical Method Validation, SANTE etc.). To run on a day to day basis and report, studies of various types and complexity.
