Job summary

A scholarly secondary school in Oxford is seeking a qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) to lead the school medical centre for an ASAP or January start.

The School Nurse will provide clinical triage, emergency care, and mental health support across the campus, coordinating IHCPs and health training for staff. This is a full‑time, long‑term role based in Oxfordshire.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with active NMC registration (RGN or SCPHN).
• Experience in pediatric nursing, emergency care or public health.
• First Aid Trainer or Immediate Life Support certification preferred.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and DfE guidance.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operation of the school medical centre and emergencies.
• Develop and monitor IHCPs for pupils with chronic conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications per guidelines and ensure safety.
• Lead health promotion, screening, and immunisation coordination.
• Train staff on medical protocols (anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes).
• Collaborate with NHS services, GPs and safeguarding lead.
