Job summary

Headington School Oxford is seeking an experienced Lead Nurse to manage the Health Centre and a team of nurses during term-time. The role covers clinical care for pupils and staff, safeguarding, and administration within a busy school setting.

The Lead Nurse will oversee patient care, liaise with guardians, and ensure compliance with health guidelines, ISAMS/CPOMS records, and vaccination programmes as required.

Qualifications

• Professional nursing qualification; state registered nurse with hands-on experience in children and young people’s health.
• Experience in managing a health centre and leading a team of nurses.
• Experience in coordinating medical care and safeguarding within a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Health Centre, coordinate on-site medical care for pupils and staff.
• Line manage the nursing team and bank staff.
• Develop and monitor healthcare plans for pupils with chronic conditions; liaise with external medical teams when needed.
• Ensure records are kept accurately and medications are dispensed properly.
• Support safeguarding, medical incident responses and vaccination programmes as required.
