Role: Lead SAP (Senior Authorised Person)

Location: Home based but will need to be flexible with site visits and vessel visits required, in addition to occasional attendance at Glasgow office.

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6-Month Initial Contract

Rates: £900 - £950 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella

Clearance: BPSS (DBS/DS, Financial Probity, Employment History) + Medical Questionnaire & Proof of Right to Work in the UK

The role involves the overall coordination, management, and execution of commissioning for mechanical and electrical systems at onshore and offshore substations and export cables, including commissioning onshore at assembly/construction sites. The key aspect is early engagement with the project team and EPC contractor to ensure a plan is agreed for onshore commissioning activities on the transmission assets aboard the platform pre-sailing. The offshore substation commissioning engineer will be a key interface. The position also covers array cabling responsibilities and may occasionally cover for the Commissioning Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Health and Safety: Coordinate and manage commissioning activities within HSE, QA/QC, project, contractors, and Operations & Maintenance guidelines. Prepare and review commissioning procedures and RAMS. Participate in HAZOP and HAZID studies.
  2. Plan, Organise and Control Commissioning activities: Plan, organise, monitor, and support site activities to ensure safe, effective resource use, and project completion within budget, following company and client policies. Integration of ABB SCADA control systems with operator control and trading platforms is a key part.
  3. Team Management: Lead and manage engineers, supervisors, back offices, and technicians to ensure motivation and efficiency. Manage and allocate tasks to commissioning teams including contractors.
  4. Budgetary and Operational Control: Plan and execute commissioning activities for onshore and offshore substations, export cables, and pre-commissioning at the construction/assembly yard.
  5. Team Performance and Development: Manage project team and individual performance, ensuring training and development needs are met, and address wellbeing or performance issues promptly.
  6. High Quality Customer Service: Represent the client and JV project locally, ensuring enquiries and complaints are handled appropriately, maintaining a positive company image.

Requirements:

  • Full GWOs (Sea Survival, Fire Awareness, First Aid, Manual Handling, Working at Heights)
  • OGUK / RUK Medical & Chester Ste
  • Relevant technical education, e.g., HNC/HND in engineering (ideally electrical engineering) or equivalent
  • Experience in managing commissioning activities and coordination, with a management mindset
  • 5+ years offshore wind farm construction, commissioning, and/or operations experience in the UK
  • Previous experience as an electrical engineer or senior authorised person at least 400KV is preferred
  • Strong personal drive with a focus on quality and professionalism
