But what’s the role?

As the first SDR to join watchTowr, the SDR Lead is responsible for building, guiding and optimising the SDR function and team’s efforts to generate new business opportunities for watchTowr.

As the SDR Lead, you will be player-manager to begin until your team is built and operating effectively, and then move to a manager only role. Your main focus is to build, manage, mentor, and motivate a team of SDRs, helping them effectively identify and engage prospective customers. You’ll work closely with each team member to improve their outreach strategies, qualify leads, and ensure a steady flow of high-quality opportunities for the sales team.

In addition to team management, you’ll be tracking performance metrics, refining processes, and collaborating with Sales and Marketing to align on strategies and messaging. This role is critical to watchTowr’s growth, as you’ll play a direct role in building a high-performing team and ensuring we reach our pipeline goals. It’s a great fit if you’re a natural leader with a strong sales background, enjoy data-driven decision-making, and thrive on helping others succeed.

This is a remote working role, based in the UK.

Sounds perfect to me, what specifics are you looking for?

  • 3-5 years of experience in a sales development, business development, or SDR role, preferably in the cybersecurity industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding lead generation and pipeline creation targets.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring a team of SDRs or BDRs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage prospects effectively.
  • Ability to analyze SDR performance data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve processes and results.
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) and sales enablement tools (e.g., Outreach, SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator).
  • Strong understanding of sales development strategies and best practices.
  • Capable of thinking strategically about how to refine target lists, ideal customer profiles (ICPs), and lead qualification criteria.
  • Familiarity with the cybersecurity industry, including knowledge of common buyer pain points and needs.
