Job summary

Evodia Limited is seeking an SC cleared Assistant Safety Engineer for a long-term contract at MOD Abbeywood, Bristol, with hybrid work and 3–4 days onsite weekly. The role focuses on managing safety requirements for equipment in the Naval domain and offers up to £440 per day inside IR35.

You will develop safety documentation, support risk analysis, provide expert safety advice, and oversee safety activities across projects, contributing to Defence standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher.
  • Registered with EngTech or RSciTech, or possess a minimum RQF Level 6 in a related discipline.
  • Familiar with safety legislation, standards and management in highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage technical safety requirements and documentation for subsystems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and legislation.
  • Support Safety Management Systems and contribute to hazard analysis, risk evaluation, and mitigation activities.
  • Provide expert safety advice during design, testing, verification, and validation processes.
  • Manage safety-related contractual activities and oversee safety performance within projects.
  • Assist in the safe decommissioning and disposal of equipment, ensuring environmental and safety standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to ongoing safety policy and process development to meet Defence standards and best practices.

Job description

Do you hold a professional registration such as EngTech or RSciTech and have experience delivering or supporting technical safety or engineering solutions? About the Role

Our client is seeking a SC cleared Assistant Safety Engineer based at MOD Abbeywood in Bristol, with the flexibility of hybrid working, requiring 3 to 4 days onsite per week. This is a long-term contract until 31 March 2027, with an immediate start available. The role offers up to £440 per day (inside IR35) and involves working within a highly regulated environment, managing safety requirements for equipment within the Naval domain.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and manage technical safety requirements and documentation for various sub-systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and legislation.
  • Support Safety Management Systems and contribute to hazard analysis, risk evaluation, and mitigation activities to support safe, operational systems.
  • Provide expert safety advice during design, testing, verification, and validation processes.
  • Manage safety-related contractual activities and oversee safety performance within projects.
  • Assist in the safe decommissioning and disposal of equipment, ensuring environmental and safety standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to ongoing safety policy and process development to meet Defence standards and best practices.
Who You Are
  • Hold a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics qualification at RQF Level 4 or higher (for example HNC or above).
  • Experienced in providing technical advice and delivering safety systems in complex environments, ideally within Defence or Military sectors.
  • Registered with a relevant professional body, such as EngTech or RSciTech, or possess a minimum RQF Level 6 (e.g. Honours Degree) in a related discipline.
  • Familiar with safety legislation, regulation, standards, and safety management in highly regulated industries.
  • Previous experience with the naval domain is highly desirable.
