Job summary

The King’s School Worcester invites applications for Lead Rowing Coach. The role focuses on coaching Games and after-school sessions for pupils from Year 9 to Sixth Form, based at the Michael Baker Boathouse beside the River Severn.

The position is fixed term for the 2026-27 academic year, 14 hours per week during term time, with additional hours for regattas and camps. Desirable UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification and safeguarding awareness are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching children in a school or club environment.
• Sound knowledge of GB Rowing technique and coaching methods.
• Desire to inspire pupils and promote safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Coach Games and after-school sessions, including land training, sculling and sweep disciplines.
• Assist in crew selection and development of training programmes.
• Supervise pupils during sessions and outings and monitor equipment usage.
• Maintain pupil records of assessment and report progress.
• Assist with entries and administration for events.
• Supervise racking/removal of equipment and assist regattas logistics.
• Help maintain fleet and ensure launches are safe.
• Carry out additional duties as required by Head of Rowing.
• Promote safeguarding and welfare of pupils.
