Join JLR as a Lead Robot Programmer - Shape the Future of Automotive Innovation!

Are you ready to take the lead in cutting-edge robotic automation? At JLR, we're looking for a talented and driven Lead Robot Programmer to join our Future Battery and EDU Prototype Production team. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of electric vehicle technologies, working at the forefront of innovation in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment.

In this exciting role, you'll be responsible for the development, modification, and maintenance of robotic systems that support our prototype production. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions, while also mentoring and guiding fellow engineers on their robot programming journey. Your expertise will help shape both our internal capabilities and the future of sustainable mobility.

If you're passionate about robotics, thrive on solving complex problems, and want to be part of a team that's redefining the automotive landscape, we'd love to hear from you.

What To Expect

In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the wider team through a range of responsibilities, including -

  • Actively contribute to the design, commissioning, and successful delivery of new systems as a key member of the PME (Prototype Manufacturing Engineering) team
  • Collaborate closely with Product Development teams to enhance product quality, functionality, and manufacturability
  • Work alongside Manufacturing teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer and apply learnings to support the transition to final production lines
  • Identify, develop, and implement innovative solutions to technical challenges as they arise, ensuring minimal disruption and continuous improvement
  • Carry out any additional duties as directed by your line manager, in line with the responsibilities of your role
  • Lead the creation and rollout of an internal robot programming training package, supporting the upskilling of colleagues and the development of in-house expertise

What You'll Need

We're looking for someone with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and practical skills, including -

  • Proven expertise in advanced robot programming across multiple manufacturers, with essential experience in ABB systems and additional exposure to Fanuc, KUKA, and Yaskawa robots
  • Strong background in process development and continuous improvement within manufacturing environments
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, workflows, and modern production methodologies
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and best practices for system integration
  • Practical experience in applying machine safety standards, including risk assessments and safety system implementation
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take full ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes independently
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and supporting collaborative work across all levels of the organisation

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.

Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. If you're unsure that you meet the full criteria of a role - but you're interested in where it could take you - we still encourage you to apply. We believe in people's ability to grow and develop within their role - it's what makes living the exceptional with soul possible.

JLR is committed to equal opportunity for all.
