Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers Ltd seeks a Lead Risk Manager for a 6-month contract. Location is Southampton or Basildon, with pay up to £60 per hour inside IR35. Candidates must hold active SC security clearance.

You will lead risk identification and assurance workshops, develop risk management practices, review risk registers, and provide data-driven insights for decision-makers while engaging with stakeholders across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical or business subject.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise and project risk management frameworks and standards.
• Significant experience in project or programme risk management.
• Highly numerate with experience of statistical and financial modelling (Monte Carlo).
• Sound understanding of contingency setting and management aligned to risk exposure.
• Experience translating complex risk information into clear, decision-focused insights.
• High competency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and able to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate risk identification, review, and assurance workshops, providing challenge and guidance to improve risk quality and maturity.
• Deliver training, coaching, and mentoring to individuals and teams to embed consistent, high-quality risk management practices.
• Review and assure risk registers, assumptions, quantification, and mitigation plans to ensure completeness and robustness.
• Support assurance activities and provide input to internal reviews or audits as required.
• Analyse processes for collecting and storing risk data, including for the purpose of ensuring data quality
• Producing risk reports, ensuring timely, accurate and decision-focused insight in line with reporting cycles
• Advising on appropriate risk treatment and mitigation strategies

Essential Skills and Experience

• Degree in a technical or business subject
• Strong knowledge of enterprise and project risk management frameworks and standards
• Significant experience in project or programme risk management
• Highly numerate with experience of statistical and financial modelling (e.g. competence in quantitative risk analysis, including Monte Carlo techniques)
• Sound understanding of contingency setting and management aligned to risk exposure.
